What is CAAP?
Yuba County's Climate Action & Adaptation Plan (CAAP) will evaluate climate risks and identify vulnerabilities within Yuba County's transportation infrastructure. The plan will recommend mitigation, resilience, and adaptation strategies that the County can implement to reduce or manage these risks.
The project includes data collection, a vulnerability assessment, and the development of adaptation strategies tailored to local needs. The primary deliverable will be a CAAP that prioritizes transportation infrastructure projects and provides information that can be incorporated into the County's General Plan update.
Why this matters
Increasing threats from climate hazards, including riverine flooding, extreme heat, and wildfire, pose risks to people, infrastructure, and the environment. Hazards can damage buildings, limit access to essential services, and devastate communities. This plan will help the County understand its climate risks, thereby informing projects that mitigate hazard impacts and make the area more resilient.
