A Future with Zero Roadway Fatalities or Injuries.

The Borough of Hanover is dedicated to eliminating traffic deaths and serious injuries on its roads through a safety initiative known as Vision Zero.

Vision Zero is a proven method of making streets safer, with the goal to eliminate all fatal and serious injury traffic crashes. Endorsed by the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT), Hanover has received funding to develop a Vision Zero Program, which has led to the creation of Hanover's Safe Street Action Plan (SSAP).

Vision Zero is grounded in the Safe System Approach, which adheres to several guiding principles to ensure a comprehensive safety strategy for all forms of transportation. This initiative emphasizes proactive and preventive improvements to roadway design, focusing on enhancing safety for all road users.
