The 2027 Hazard Mitigation & Climate Adaptation Plan

Frederick County is developing its next five‑year Hazard Mitigation Plan to reduce disaster risk, protect lives and property, and strengthen recovery after major events.

In recent years, our community has faced flooding, hurricanes, high winds, tornadoes, and other severe weather. Preventing damage before it occurs saves lives and reduces recovery costs.

This plan will:

  • Identify the hazards that pose the greatest risk
  • Prioritize practical, cost‑effective actions to reduce future damage
  • Maintain eligibility for FEMA mitigation funding to support safe growth and development

Proactive hazard mitigation helps prevent losses, supports safer development, and builds a more disaster‑resilient community.

Your input is essential in shaping priorities and actions for the next five years.
